Default Oil all over the rear bumper and trunk area

What's up people? I need some help for my cousin's car.. brand new rebuilt type r motor... it was smoking like crazy, past 500 miles of driving... oil was burning.. had to pour in more oil. Then, he noticed oil spots all over the trunk area..EVERYWHERE. So the car was taken back to the mechanic, and he replaced some valve seals. It doesn't smoke any more, but after a good car wash, he's noticing more oil spots on the trunk.. can this be a piston ring problem? thanks

im thinking the exhuast still has oil in it.
i dont think the rings could cause oil to go everywhere. but just in case do a compression check.

if all that looks good, if it were me id pull the cat back and rinse it out.

I've also heard people claim that it could be the head gasket. Could the head gasket be a problem that causes oil to spit out? thanks for the input so far! greatly appreciated

dont think so.
besides if the head gasket was bad you would know.
the oil may not be same color and the collent would be differnt colors mixed with oil.

check under the car, to me, sounds like an external oil leak, and the wind is blowing the oil under the car, and then sticking the the bumper and trunk.

atleast this is what happens when something leaks on the funny car i wrench on...

somebody never gapped/clocked the rings sounds like

oil leak is possible

take it and roll it down a hill on fire.

now, if it were to be the head gasket, the compression test would be able to tell right? What other problems would be caused by the HG if it's bad? Overheating?

i'd just check for an external leak first. look for fresh oil somewhere. i agree with g230sport and that it's prob blowing up from somewhere

I would check for your STS turbo and make sure that turbo oil line is on tight...
