i have a 92 civic. obd1 d16y8. stock d15b7 obd1 harness... does anyone know how to swap plugs ... like the wiring to use the obd2a plug on the obd1 harness ?? the alternator is a 99 ex... they are both 4 pin plugs if it matters

Hi there....

This will help you figure it out:

OBD2 - - - - - OBD1
black/yellow = black/yellow
white/blue = white/blue
white/yellow = white/green
white/red = blue

Overral whenever you are swapping or converting from OBD1 to OBD2 (ex. Distribuitor, Alternator, etc, color cables must of the times will match, but not always)

Have you thought about removing the voltage regulator from the old engine's alternator, and swapping it into the Y8's alternator housing? It's not hard, and would allow you to not hack/splice wiring at the alternator plug. It changes the plug on the alternator from round to square or vice versa.

I used to have a detailed write up, but I cannot find it. I have done this for B series swaps into 92-95 Civics. I don't see why it shouldn't also work for SOHC alternators.
