Default Need help asap! running on 2 cyls. (MUST READ)

I have a D16z6 and today i put a d16y8 2000 civic ex head on it and it runs only on 2 cyls? the only cyls are working are the two closest to the timing belt. the other two are blank the injectors are opening and the plugs are getting fire just its not running them. whats weird is we put this same head on my friends 97 civic ex d16y8 and it did the same **** but we though his computer was fried and injectors weren't working. but my car i took the intake off and seen them all spray fuel.the compression is 210,170,170,175. i checked for spark and its good. fuel is being sprayed into the cyls but for some reason is disapearing so i took the head back off thinking of a bad valve but its not.. it might be but what could this be? it idle fine but if i take off a spark wire the two left last ones it idles the same. it sounds like a sti also.

thanks in advance!

Plug wires out of order?

Distributor installed 180 degrees out of phase?

impossible to install distributor 180 out, the notch is offset to one side. Sounds like you had your firing order wrong.

Consider that only two wires are switched out of order. This would lead to precisely the problem you are describing.

Travis, just a word of advice. You'd save yourself soooo much time by constantly referring to your service manual to verify the details of any work you are doing.

distributer cant be 180 dagrees off the key way on it wont alow it to its the timeing thats off did u put the bottem end at tds center and put the head a tds because that can cause the problem or u got a problem with ur cap or plugs or wires check that and see what happends my bet is on the plugs or the timeing belt

Be sure to use a new head gasket of course, as well as head bolts unless using studs.
Always an entertaining thread from you!

lol. the new head gasket has been used 5 times but never started. and finnally got it running perfect and the head gasket works fine. and the studs.

this is a lesson WELL LEARNED! i tried 3 different other heads. i was changing head like i was changing cloths lol. it was the dam firing order.

and who knows what to torque the harmonic balancer to? the big pulley?
