i just bought this car ... and i need to get it running soon or i will be in a good deal of trouble ... i was asked to come to this forum by someone on yahoo answers ...
my car is now in the port potomac (virginia) region and i need a good mechanic too ... let me know if you know anyone who deals with engine replacement and engine repair.

you can definitely find a motor for cheap in the market place here on Honda-Tech, but you're a trial member and that wont get lifted for like a week or 2. ummm...check craig's list, http://www.hmotorsonline.com has a jdm d15b for like 500 but it will be obd1 i believe and your car is obd2. d16y8 is a expletiveing douche of a motor lol...i went through 2 of them..same problem each time and its the same as yours...spun bearing due to shitty oil pump.
someone from VA help this dude
good luck man

Re: need engine for 96 honda civic vtech (Probot)
I'm in va but on the totally opposite side over in the staunton and harrisonburg area. That sucks dude did you check the oil and go over everything really good when you bought it? just sounds like to me someone has been neglecting some regular maintenance. 166k on the hx and still runs just as good at 67k when I bought it aug. '99 but also I've been good on the maint.
