Default Need advice for removing the crankshaft pulley bolt

Hi guys recently my timing belt broke. I am i the process of replacing it, i have everything off except the lower part of the timing belt cover. In order to remove that cover i need to remove the crankshaft pulley but it has no holes around it so i can put a bolt and a chain to hold it in place. I made a hole because imma replace the pulley as well but the bolt is just too tooo too tight. i held the pulley with the chain and tried to loosen the bolt wit a wrench and socket, and tried to crank the engine to that the wrench loosening the screw hit the floor, but NOTHIG! The balt is still tight as hell. Can any one help, thanks

Get an impact. preferably a 3/4'', or buy the honda crank pulley tool with a good size breaker bar.

Impact with some *****. Like 1k+ lbs of break away torque, or a breaker bar with a 6-8 ft cheaper pipe.

these bolts can be a royal pain in the ***. You don't need a pulley puller for these guys. once the bolt is off, the pulley pops right off.

As I posted before, buy the 50mm honda crank pulley tool, would solve a lot of heartache and cursing...

no, it's not a issue, if you would just get the tools needed for the job.

Go rent the tool.

btw trying to bump the starter would cause you to tighten or eventually snap the bolt.

You MUST provide all pertinent information about your car and engine. Failure to do so may result in thread closure.

once you get the pulley back on (double check your woodruff key is in there) there should be 4 marks on the pulley. look up from the top of the car while turning the pulley. 3 will be close to each other and the other 1 will be further than the rest. the 3 close together are the timing marks. the middle one being tdc. it lines up with the mark on the lower timing cover.

1. Take the "crank" pulley off, completely. Be careful not to drop/lose the wood-ruff key.

2. Once step 1 is accomplished, you will see a mark on the crank gear, and there will be a mark located on the oil pump as well.
