Default Mysterious Tranny Leak

I took some RTV gasket stuff and ran a beed along the tranny and bell housing to make sure it doesn't leak. It never was leaking, but I like to be certain. It sat for the remainder of the day with no leaks. The axel seals on the new(er) tranny are good, but the driverside one sit's flush with the top of the axel, but is about 2mm apart on the bottom. It isn't leaking, but I will get a set from Honda and replace them . Now that I am done my speech, what else should I replace while I do the axel seals. The Driverside axel also has a brittle CV boot that is patched up with sealent. Does anybody suggest getting a rebuilt axel over a new one? I am kinda tight on cash. Is it worth buying a brand new one (lifetime warrenty) or will I be alright going the cheaper route? I have got lot's of hand tools, but no air tools. Is replacing an axel gonna be really hard with out them? I have got Magnum P.I. on the case, but his age is really slowing him down .
