hello i have problem with my 2000 honda civic ex.some time its dosn,t start the sound is like that its going to start but its not.only the sound is like that i change the feule filter.and about 10 dayes no problem and now is same today i drived it and than i parked it after 1 hour i try to start it but its not and than after 10 min i try agian and its start this time .i have no idea pumb is worked good. pls help thanks

when you turn the key to ON the check engine light pops on, then cuts off

during that time you should hear the fuel pump prime in the back (its a low humming noise)

test and see if you hear that noise.

if you dont hear it, look into replace the main relay.

check it and post back

Change your spark plugs and distributor it will start because if it sound like it is going to start but it dosnt then the pump isnt bad because that mean that fuel moved for the second u tried to start he car u cant lose by changing the wires and the distributor because it wont cost more than 90$ and the pump could be more so just try it if u didnt already fix ur problem

you are advising him to just throw parts at it instead of troubleshooting.

im sorry, but that is horrible advice. i told him to do a simple test, to eliminate one VERY common problem.

after he eliminates that, then we can get to whether he has spark or not, which should be tested, not throwing parts at it

no joke dude, Igniter, i had the exact same problem, only thing was i was actually on the road and my car Cut out completely. the sodering in the igniter is **** so it cracks under the heat of the engine, thus not being able to start your car. but id recommend main relay aswell, replaced both on my car and its been driving beautifully since then.

here i notice one more thing.when i on my ign switch its showing all think like check engen light and SRS and ABS ,Brake,battry ect.its worked good.i meant i start normaly.but when its shoing every thing but not showing engen light then its doesn,t start.i d,nt know y but todat its running.when it gives me problem then i checked the really switch wich one told me up.thanks alot guys and have fun

here one more thing.5 mins before its give me agian same problem.but i notic.that one its work normaly than i on the ign switch all lights come up befor it goes there is three or two kind sound but when its not going to start all lights comeup but no engen light come up and that time its give me only one sound wich one is i think come in from out side in from engin.i think its rally problem.but i dn,t know where is that gas rally can some one lod me where its located irember i have 2000 honda civic.thanks

the main relay is under the drivers side of the dash, near the fuse box and hood pop lever

its a brown box with a gray bottom and a big gray plug with lots of wires

hello sir here i have another problem.i buy new relay from ebay motor its honda relay same as i have old one but wheni chage it .i start my car its start ,than i trun off engen.and i try agian its give me same problem than i got an idea i hit the place where the relay is located i mean glov box with my hand i surprised it start agian.and now when aver its not start i hit the glov box so its work me normaly .any idea what should i do.remember its a new relay wich one is i buy from ebay here is the link

sounds like you got another bad relay

if you can smack it and the car starts.

the best way to tell if you do have a bad relay, is to listen for the fuel pump to prime when you turn the key to on.

if you dont hear a low humming noise in the rear when you turn the key to on (dont start)
then the relay is bad.

yah when sart my car its not give me any beem than i hit the glovbox so the engem light come on and i hear the beeb uner the glov box

had similar issue with 8th gen civic. FIRST, check inside fuse box fuse #10 (METER) that signals ECM. Replace with new one. Also, remove any LED signal, Reverse bulbs if you recently put on because that must be the cause of blown fuse. Mine was due to LED reverse bulbs and problem happened after more than a month of bulbs install. Hope this helps.
