Default my 2000 ex does not accelerate smoothly...

the entire car is stock, 143k miles. under load, the car seems to struggle to get the mph and rpms up between 2000 and 3500ish, feels ever so slightly like its bucking and not moving anywhere. when in neutral the car free revs right up with no hesitation

the compression is 190,190,200,195, leakdown isnt perfect, around 20-25%. also i noticed the plugs are not showing consistant fuel. #3 runs rich (not that much of a concern it is the hottest cyl), 2 and 4 are normal and #1 is pretty lean on the fire ring. no real signs of det or misfire on the porcelain, nor do i have any cel for misfire or anything else

so far ive replaced the cat and corresponding secondary o2 (they were slightly melted), fuel injectors, cap, rotor, plug wires and the spark plugs themselves. all with oem units. i also did the timing belt and made sure the mechanical and ignition timing were right on.

so, this is my daily and im running out of ideas...

My civic is completely opposite.
When i hit 2.5k or 3k i feel a jerk of boost then rpm climbs faster like vtec lol but i could hear vtec kick in a 5.5k though
i shift at 2k due to a bad rod.
but when im in neutral rev up i don't feel that jerk of boost.

when was your last tuneup? air/fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, (opt) o2 sensor?

edit = reread your post, sorry,

try your air/fuel filter or check fuel pressure

^I agree. Replace the fuel filter and measure the fuel pressure.

fuel filter is on my list of last possible choices. im also slightly entertaining the idea that my clutch is on the outs...1st gear doesnt seem to be as bad as 2nd, and by 4th gear it seems worse. i mean you can still drive the car but you notice something isnt right

a symptom of your clutch going out would feel like a half engaged clutch, you would be able to rev high but not get it to the wheels (it'll feel like), a bad clutch wouldnt make the engine stutter or anything

yea it can be a fuel filter. I was just doing tuning my car today with my friend (he was doing the tuning itself) and the car kept going lean around 2-3k and it would just feel like it had no power during that time.
