motor runs really cool....
ok
car: 92 cx hatch
motor:b16a sirII
mods to motor: dc jdm 4-1 header,2.5 test pipe,2.5 jic catback, apexi v-afc,aem intake tube into eg6 air box with K&N drop in filter.
when i drive my car the temp. stays under cold until i stop and wait for a train or a long stop light then it begins to warm up a bit... after 45 minutes of highway driving i can literally open the hood and lay my face on the valve cover and it wont be hot enough to make me want to take my face off of it...the header is normal temp....the block is normal temp....the head is warm and the radiator is warm...the rad. hoses are hot so the thermostat is opening..the fan comes on when it should..if i let the car idle it will get normally warm ( just under half way on the guage cluster) but as soon as i start driving i can watch the neddle drop to the cold line or just below it until i stop again.. what the hell is happening? is this normal? is this bad? i dont have a/c or p/s so i was thinking since its winter all the cold air is blowing right through the bumper all over the motor keeping it real cool...and since i have my hood rasied up at the hinges all the heat is blowing out right over the windshield keeping the motor real cool. what do u think?

Re: motor runs really cool.... (navin)
yes it does when the motor warms up..take this for example i get in the car first thing in the morning start it up drive for 30 minutes on the highway to work once i get off the highway i have to wait for a long stop light..after the light is over my temp. needle will be just under half way now vtec will engage even if the needle goes back down to under cold vtec will always engage because i let the motor get warm
its the same thing if i would start the car in the morning and let it run until its fully warmed up vtec will engage and the needle will go back down to under cold once i start driving..does that make sense? its kinda hard to explain..but yes vtec still works

the thermostat is about 2 months old and its a honda part ...its not a problem i was just wondering why this happens?
me and a buddy cut a piece of plexiglass to cover the hole where the a/c condensor used to be(you know like those ghetto trucks you see with cardboard over thier grills) we are gonna try to block the hole off and see if my car runs a bit warmer its an idea

That's how my car runs right now with no thermostat. Also how is your fan hooked up??? Is it on with the key or hooked up the reg way??
I can't put a thermostat in mine till I get a new radiator.

My car runs @ 140 F usually. It will creep up to 160ish when stoped for long periods of time. Get a guage and compare
