Misfire codes - CEL and SRS light 98 civic
HI there
Friend of mine has a civic and today his CEL went on. When we got in the car, the car idled and bogged a bit on start up but once warm (2-3 mins) went away and the car drove fine. He said this happened earlier in the week but changed the rad cap and all was good, light turned off. We went to get the code scanned and it read:
P0300
P0301
P1399
From my research, it indicates these are all misfire codes. Would changing my spark plugs/ wires get rid of the codes or is it something more, perhaps dizzy cap and rotor also?
is there any harm done if he continues to drive with the cel on?
thanks in advance

P0300 and p1399 are codes for random misfire. P0301 is stating misfire in #1 cylinder.
When was the last time a tune-up was done? Did the car overheat anytime recently? Is the coolant low in the radiator?

Tune up was done maybe in 2013 last time where all wires were changed, plugs , not sure if the dizzy was changed.
If I was gonna start to replace things of the usual : dizzy cap and rotor, plugs, wires ...which is best to do first?

both plugs and wires are NGK and were installed in 2012, my bad, went back through the records and it was in 2012 that the dizzy cap, rotor, plugs wires were done. car was at 270kms then and is at 320 now...cant rmb the brand of the dizzy tho..prob some generic brand...today the heat gauge shot up when in bumper to bumper traffic but went down again when we started to drive ...reason for this?
car still ok to drive?

Inspect the distributor cap and rotor.
Did you check whether radiator fan was running when the engine got hot? Did you check the coolant level in the radiator and reservoir? How old is the thermostat?

will do, what am i looking for with regards to determining the usability of the dizzy cap and rotor? Worn out contact points? Radiator fan i believe did turn on, if not would that be the fan that needs to be replaced or prob the whole rad..coolant level was normal, a bit low in the overflow reservoir but still some fluid there...thermostat, no idea how old it is...another thing i should add...the heat does not work when at idle...only gets warm/ hot when driving in gear, same goes for the a/c
thoughts?
thanks for the help thus far
