Intake manifold for Dx series ek? (1997).
Im looking into putting an intake manifold for my Ek hatch.
problem is i cant find one for the series engine in it.
its a d16y7.
and the only "close" manifolds that i can find for it is the d16y8. but thats a v-tec isnt it?
Please let me know any possible ways that i can work around this without having to drop in a different series engine or having to throw in a ton of money.

thanks.

The design of the y7 intake manifold is terrible. Your upgrades are as follows:
1) y8 intake manifold + y8 throttle body + y8 throttle cable (preferably automatic)
2) A $300-500 aftermarket intake manifold which is only marginally better than the y8 manifold. Bigger gains probably seen if you were boosting it, but n/a they aren't much better than the factory y8 manifold.
Luckily for you, I have option 1) if you would like it. It's even from an auto y8, so it should be plug and play.

It's a very noticeable upgrade for a stock y7 engine.
I would bet this would do more than an intake and a cheap aftermarket header do combined.

On a stock D-series? Leave it stock unless you like wasting money.
"1) y8 intake manifold + y8 throttle body + y8 throttle cable (preferably automatic)" is a better option.
