LS/VTEC pinging noise
Recently I started hearing a pinging noise coming from the head in my motor. The pinging noise rattles at around 2-3K, even with no load. After the engine warms up and I try to start it again, it'll ping on start up. Checked timing and everything is set. Tried retarding the timing on the distributor all the way, it helped a little bit, but I could still hear the pinging. Anyone know what it could be?
Setup is B18B block with P30 pistons. Head is stock B16 from 99 Si. Compression is at 11.5 with this setup. I also run 91 octane.
