linear solenoid cleaning 97 civic lx
so my buddy's car shift kind of rough
when its about to shift the trans feels liek it slips but then gets into gear way to late
accels very slow due to this problem, i searched it up and it has to be the solenoid.
just wondering how to clean it, I know where its located at
btw its an auto trans

Hopefully its not to late for a response. You are right it is definitely the Linear solenoid (I had the same problem). To clean it:
1.Remove 4 bolts holding solenoid to tranny (watch out tran fluid will come out)
2. Unplug it
3. clean with warm soapy water
4. If severely gummed up soak in a solvent like mineral spirits
5. Do this till all the goop is out of the solenoid.
6. Let dry COMPLETELY before putting it back on
7. Re-install solenoid (Bolts and plug)
