I just replaced all the belts. Is there a reason why they squeal at start up for only a few seconds. They are all tight. Could a belt being too tight cause the squeal?

push down on all the belts. if there is roughly .25" in play, its good. too much or too little, adjust accordingly.

Re: Just replaced drive belts. Now it squeals at start up only....
a squeal is from slipping. that's all it can be. if it's on startup the initial torque of the pulley going from 0 rpm to idle speed is too much and overcomes the belt tension. it's very likely a belt is loose. if you think you set it too tight, you might have, but it has obviously loosened up or there is some sort of contamination on the pulley or underside of the belt. it is also possible but not likely that the size of the cross-section of a belt is enough (either too wide or shaped oddly) to cause it to seat poorly on the pulley.
good luck.
good luck.
