You can. It's only there for a preventative measure to only engage VTEC if there's enough oil pressure.

If you have the switch, why not hook it up ? Am I understanding this correctly, you have it, but your throwing a code cause its not hooked up, and you want to get rid of it ?
Just hook it up.

CEL light..car just immediately backs off (as if you slammed on the brakes, the whole car jolts)..and if you try to accelerate passed 5500 the car will do the same thing.
happened to me a week and half ago. just reset ECU by unplugging the battery and your on your way.
EDIT: not sure what CEL it is either cause it doesnt blink it just stays on...i reset the ECU, put 4 qts of oil and it didnt happen again.

Hi.
First off code 4 is not related to the VTPS. Code 22 is.
Code 4 = CKP sensor (crank position sensor)
check it out here:

The CKP sensor is in the dizzy. I suggest trying a different distributor.

Dude Check your Oil More offten and you might not need to put in 4 Qts of oil to get in back to full.

Um, its a sign, your engine won't rev that high or engage vtec cause you have an issue. Don't half *** the job, hook the sensor up the correct way and make use of the sensor itself.
