Issues with Starter; D16Y8
So I finally have some time again to work on my car which has been in my garage for the past year. I get it started up and the idle was steady at about 1300, but I expected that because I just removed the IACV and the throttle body plate was opened up a bit. I'm using an AEM EMS with a piece of **** Toshiba laptop running Windows ME (I'm about ready to break the ******* thing). Just as the car gets warmed up and I'm about to mess with the throttle plate screw, the laptop freezes up. So I shut the car down, reboot the laptop and get ready to start it again. When I flip the key to on, everything gets power (fuel pump etc.). When I go to crank it over, however, I can hear the starter just whirring, like its not engaging the flywheel. I pulled the starter off, and the gears on it look fine. Anybody have a clue as to what could be up with it?
Cliff notes: I had my car running, shut it off, and now the starter just whirs when I try to crank the engine over.

could it be a chipped spot on the flywheel? try push starting it and then try again?
btw windows ME is the worst operating system ever.
get rid of it.

Get the **** out.
I'm going to replace the starter with a new one, as this one came from a junkyard and I'm not sure about its origins etc.

The only reason I'm hesitant about doing that is if I push it down my driveway and it doesn't work, I'm fucked. Unless a bunch of you want to come over and help me push it back up.
