96 civic lx sedan problems w/ CC + issues
Hey guys, so bought this Honda second hand, its got 138K manual transmition and I paid 1.5 for it....The other day I noticed my cruise control wouldn't engage all the lights work on the actual button and on the dash it just won't get engaged. The other issue is the rear Window defroster only the top 3 lines melts the others are probably damaged.
The driver's side fender is silver while the car is blue, I would very much like to paint it since I can't find it blue in junk yards...
Last but not least 2 codes came up at autozones computer: P0420 and P1298.The seller gave me an used o2 sensor to change ,I did it but still the light was on,and the other one I think its a fuse/electrical problems...
So,please give some ideas/suggestions on how to get it the easy way...
Thanks a lot for your time ,it is greatly appreciated.
Dan.

CC - Check the rubber stoppers that press on the CC switches on the clutch and brake pedals. One may have fallen out.
Defogger - Those three wires are likely broken. Locate the brake and brush on some metallic repair paint.
Codes - Reset the ECU to see whether both codes return.

That code is a bad cat. You can waste as much time and money as you like changing sensors etc, it's the cat and it will keep popping up till you change it.
I dealt with that code. I bought a new exhaust system before I plated the car and now have a warranty for 5 or 8 years. The cat went bad after 4 months. Replaced it (free) and the problem is gone.
