I stripped my tensioner bolt...
Where can I get one? Kragen, Maybe the local junk yards??
I am trying to figure out if I have to take out my crank pulley again to get at the tensioner... I recently changed the timing belt, and after making a few adjustments, the belt kept slapping on the motor mount, and i eventually stripped it.
If anyone has one laying around pm me???

no its the actual bolt thats stripped, I think its a 14, I was trying to tighten it, but I think I stripped the top part of the bolt in doing so.
Its for a jdm d15b single cam vtec or a usdm z6. Im kinda looking to fix it today, but good lookin tho.

Re: I stripped my tensioner bolt...
how would the tensioner react to having the bolt taken out? because of what i know, i should release the spring?

Nah, just take out the bolt of a junkyard motor, don't worry about the spring. Just take off the access cover, take out the bolt.

Re: I stripped my tensioner bolt...
it really sounds like the block is stripped out. the bolt should catch on all the other threads. plus the aluminum would give way before the steel bolt would

Luis! I've told you bro, come over and ill fix it for you.
i have like 3-4 tensioner bolts.
Im hitting the junkyard tommarow ill get you one off of there also.
But just come over bring some greens and well get the job done.
And the actual bolt is striped not the block. the block is fine.
The bolt head is striped(had to clear things up)

Re: I stripped my tensioner bolt...
I just wanted to see if anyone else can confirm this, but is the tensioner adjustment bolt the same bolt as the bolt that goes on the starter? the short bolt that is.

no its a little smaller than the starter one. But its ok, just go get one from a hardware store or a junkyard motor.

Re: I stripped my tensioner bolt...
Same thing happend to me before. Ended up having to order a new bolt from the dealer and re-thread the hole. There are special sockets you can use to remove stripped bolts.

Re: I stripped my tensioner bolt...
i broke the block.... i managed to get the bolt out, but when I was tightening the bolt down, a chunk of aluminum came out along with the bolt and tensioner. I managed to get the bolt out at first but it was a bitch because the bolt was stripped...
