I only had her out for one day.... ;(
Well... My shitty luck streak has come full circle. They say bad things come in 3's. Well this would be number 3 for me. And I hope this is it.
I shattered my ankle 10 months ago and needed surgery. 7 screws and a plate that I get to lug around for the rest of my life and annoy me on long drives since its my right foot. Bad luck #1.
( Pic of ankle - http://i508.photobucket.com/albums/s...psb33c5244.jpg )
Then I was lucky enough to get in not even a fender bender at the gas station one night and get sucker punched by the driver, breaking my jaw and requiring me to get 4 screws and a plate put in, and having my jaw wired shut for 8 weeks. Bad luck #2.
( Pic of Jaw - http://i508.photobucket.com/albums/s...psa6b3ba99.jpg )
Since I havent been going out alot with my wired jaw (Cant eat, cant talk well) Ive been able to put some good time into the car and get her all worked out. I bought a '96 Hatch with a B20/GSR swap in it with a ITR trans. Went to buy it 3 days after I got out of the hospital with my jaw wired shut. I tore out the B20/GSR swap and put in a JDM ITR motor ive had for years. Stock internals, never opened, few mods and put out 198whp/135tq on stock P73 ecu.
So after weeks of harnesses, sensors, plugs, adapters, exhaust problems, injector issues and the whole list of things we go through, I finally got her running right.
Vid of her rippin through some gears.
This was on Thursday that I finally finished everything. Still had a little issue with IACV acting up time to time, but on the gas, she was perfect. I cruised for a little bit before Job #2 and parked her for the night. Running great, strong again, and putting a smile on my face. I usually chill for an hour or two on Friday from Job 1 to Job 2 so I didnt drive her at all Friday. Saturday I had a family party to attend before work and didnt drive her, but it was so nice out I figured if I was going to get a break from work since I was working a 12 hour shift, Ill take the hatch to work and bring her home on break. Even called my manager to make sure I would get a break to bring her home.
Well, I took my break and went to bring her home and a girl I was just serving at the bar I work at ran a red light and took the front of the car off.
She was the only person in the bar I was serving Pepsi to oddly enough. She was driving a CRV and completely ran the light. A man came up to make sure I was ok, and I was. He said to me "Glad you're ok. Im the best witness your going to get" (as he holds up his police badge) he smiles and says, "I saw it all, and she ran the Red light". Bad luck #3.
I know its not a terrible, and its hopefully not totaled, but doing so much work and having so much other bad **** happen, it seems like this is just my icing on the cake. Going to def need a whole new front end. Im hoping she didnt push my axle into my transmission casing and do any damage.
We will see what the adjuster says and how much I get through insurance. NADA rates the car at $3,000 retail value. If not frame damage, Im guessing its gonna be around 2k to fix.
TLDR: Broke my ankle, broke my jaw, finished car a few days ago, drove once, girl ran red light and took front off of the car

Re: I only had her out for one day.... ;(
Sorry about your misfortune.
Where I live this is about a $2000 - $3000 dollar car. This looks pretty F'ed to me. I would not pay more then $500 - $1000 for parts to fix it. But if you are mechanically inclined, then that could be another story as far as what you can salvage from it if you keep it based off inspection. Unless your good at what you do, repairs might not be a good investment.
You did mention that you put alot of work into it though. I would see how much i could get for it totaled, compared to if I was to keep it as a parts car for the next one. You can always strip it and scrap the body for quick cash. Then you'll have enough parts to keep your next one on the road forever.
Any one else have an opinion?

I dont have to pay for anything. Her insurance is going to be covering anything involved with repair. I just went to the body shop its at on lunch break and the frame doesnt seem to be bent. Hood, fenders, bumper, and grill. Paint and some little things and she should be good to go.
If they total it, i would most certainly be buying it back to tear everything out of it. ITR motor, seats, wheels, suspension, cluster, steering wheel. My guess is I'll get an insurance check for 2,200-2,500. I will leave the car as is for now and tear it down for paint and body work. Use that money to buy parts and the rest towards paint.

More on story about broken jaw. I feel like some details are left out!
Hope your luck turns around man, I've been down this road before. Hell a buddy of mine on the way to the dyno his Expedition blew up, so we got a friend to come and trailer his car to the dyno anyways and his car blew up on the dyno 3rd pull. On top of everything he forgot his wallet in the blown up Expedition on the side of the expressway. Yep all three in 1 day...
Sucks man but remember things can only get better from here.

Re: I only had her out for one day.... ;(
Ankle was at my Christmas party for the bar that I work at. Was early in the party. Only had a drink or two and went outside with a few people to take a few puffs with the lady named Mary or somethin like that on the back patio. Come back inside with everyone and run out front to put Mary's bowl back in my car and as Im pulling it out of my pocket, it falls and shatters on the ground. Had her for a while so was pretty pissed about it. Came back inside and my girlfriend immediately knew something was wrong. She asked me what happened and I told her it broke. She didnt believe me and everyone was going out front for a cigarette so I said ill show you. I had kicked a few smaller pieces under my car for now to just hide it and threw out the bigger pieces. So we get to my car and we both kneel down and look under my car where you can see the glass. She got up before me and was standing in front of me and one of my dumbass friends shouted "hey why dont you stay on your knees for a while" bc her crotch was right in front of my face since she got up first. She went to step towards me and tripped and fell on me and all of our weight came down on my ankle and torqued it right off. Stood up and it was dangling and all out of place. I was 2cm from coming out of the skin. Best part is, the first local doctor I went to casted my ankle and told me I would need surgery the next week. Well this guy seemed shady as hell so I went to NYC to see an ankle specialist. Long story short, the first guy casted my ankle in the wrong way and he had to shift my ankle and recast it. WORST 3 MINUTES OF MY LIFE...... Easily the most painful thing Ive ever had to sit through in my life. ever. 7 screws, a plate and 5 months of PT and its about 80%.
The jaw....I was leaving the bar with one of my friends who is a bouncer to go see that girl Mary again. Shes all over these days. He needed to stop at the gas station for some ciggs and brews on his way. Followed him to the gas station and waited for him to get what he needed. He pulled out and went around 2 cars that were at the pumps closest to the building. At the second car, the sidewalk gets really small there is really only room for one car. Well he was driving a blazer and Im in a Audi S8. He hops the curb, and I am definitely not doing that. I put the car in reverse and im backing out around the 2 cars that are at the pumps so i can get out another way. As im slowly backing out, a '97 Chevy Malibu comes cruising into the lot and we tap... literally tap bumpers. My sensors werent even going off. I was shocked and immediately park to inspect whats going on. I got out of the car and walked to the rear of my car and looked at my bumper. Smallest little scuff on the bumper. Honestly i dont even care. I move to his car and look at his bumper and it has some damage but it doesnt look like any of it is from me. My car is black and the damage on his car was white marks. As Im getting up from kneeling looking at his car, i get to full posture and the second i do WHAM. This ******* guy sucker punches me in the jaw. Literally never said one word to me. Luckily he didnt knock me down, he just knocked my hat off. I was in complete shock and couldnt believe what just happened. I start yelling at him saying wtf are you thinking. why are you hitting me? we get into a accident and you ******* hit me? and as im saying this, he's back pedaling into his car with the "suck my dick" **** you" comments. As hes getting in his car, my friend who hopped the curb is now walking around the corner bc i never came, and he asking me what happened. I tell him im chasing this guy as he's now backing out. We are literally across the street from the back side of the police station. We chased him for about 2 minutes through city streets and a low income housing development at about 80mph. he ended up running 2 red lights across 6 lanes of traffic, and thats where I decided Im not doing that. By the time I was driving home, I was moving the last 4 teeth in my mouth with my tongue. Went to the hospital, got transferred to Westchester Medical and had to wait there for 5 days for surgery. Was wired completely shut for 8 weeks. And yes, that first meal was amazing. Think about sneezing, or coughing, or the worst, yawning when your jaw is wired shut. Yawning was easily the worst feeling. I drank 5 protien shakes a day. Protien powder, egg, 2 oreo's, peanut butter, banana, ice cream, and milk. Soups and **** were too hard to get down. had to literally be no thicker than a regular milkshake.
They ended up catching the guy a week later thanks to mostly great police work. Best part is when they brought him in for questioning, he thought he was in trouble for the hit and run vehicle accident. So when they asked him if there was an altercation after the accident, he said "yea I hit him, only once though". BOOM. done. admitted. Arrested, Felony assault 2nd. Criminal trial is still in process so its taking time but will eventually get there. He was also on probation already so he violated that as well.

Yea, glad someone stopped. Certainly a credible witness.

The girl that hit me was hysterical. She seemed more of the square type. Only damage to her CRV was a dimple on the front bumper, and a flat driver front tire. No airbags off, luckily for her. She was physically fine, she was just upset about the situation. I wonder what the **** she was doing that she went past 2 other lanes of stopped cars and straight through the light. Wish I had a different angled video of the accident too.

I feel like I should go get some lotto tickets after reading this....cuz I got it going good
Srsly tho, I hope that your car can get fixed and back on the road.
Unlucky? Maybe...but not dead .

Re: I only had her out for one day.... ;(
Well shes totaled. And i dont think shes worth repairing either. Both shock tower and motor mounting points are bent/torn/damaged. Im hoping this is from the torque of her hitting me and not the motor shifting or receiving impact. No body panels or frame are even close the being bent enough to hit the motor so im pretty sure it was from the torque of impact.
Was able to buy the car back for $200 from insurance and ended up getting a pretty decent amount for it totaled too. Not a total shitty situation. Just sucks im back on the hunt now.... maybe this was meant to happen so I get the ITR ive been searching out for about 6 years now. :\
So i now will be tearing everything out, parting out any valuable pieces, keeping some and junking the shell most likely.

Sucks, I remember your threads on the wiring and ECU issues. After my first accident a guy on the scene told me "cars can be replaced, people can not". Just be happy everyone is ok.

Damn no bueno. I had a guy almost ******* me @70 when I was stoped on the freeway the other day. He swerved and missed hitting me by about 2 feet. ******* loser. Not to be a dick but are you going to sell anything off it?

So a possible change of plans... I'm thinking about getting a RHD front clip from HMotors and putting that on. I was planning on painting the car anyway. The insurance will cover the cost of the clip and getting it put on. I'll be right back to where I was before the accident but with a RHD hatch with a ITR in it.
My only concern as of now is in NYS you have to get an inspection in Albany for a salvage vehicle to be registered. It says that it's NOT a emissions or safety inspection. But a inspection of parts to make sure they have not been stolen. Has anyone done this? I would have the receipts for everything including my motor.
I'm gonna look into it more this coming week.
