it wont be the same as driving a car that didnt come with power steering. it will be harder to steer. its not worth it.

That's just absurd. It's an experiment. He wants to evaluate it with the belt off. Eventually the belt goes back on. No one said he was having difficulty getting it off.

I would not do that. Your rack and pinion is made for power steering. Driving without power steering even for one time can cause serious damage to your rack. But if your made of money, go for it.

Why are you yanks so keen on removing the PS? I thought the gym and not the car was the best place to exercise - Seriously you DO need to turn left and right once in a while :D :D :D

Re: How to remove power steering belt?
I've driven so many cars without PS, it doesn't bother me, and I kind of liked it.
So when i did my timing belt I left the PS belt off for a few days. It felt weird, even when compared to other 96-00's. Maybe it has something to do with the lines are still there? but my friends 97 ex was a breeze to drive, and you could hardly tell it didn't have power steering.
Mine was just a pain in the *** to turn, even when doing 30-40, on the high way at 70-80 you could feel it, and it took a little more effort but it wasn't enough to bother me.
Kind of makes me want to do the DC/EG rack swap.

@13
It's cool, to each his own :-)
To me it's just the equivalent of removing the brakes, the seat belts or the air bags. PS is not just a comfort accessory - It's a life saver on the street :-)
