Default PLEASE HELP:::How do I take the stock shift **** off? (00 Si)

Everytime I seem to turn it, the shift boot turns with it. I know there's a pin in there that is holding the shift boot to the ****, but how do I go about releasing it so I can take the shift **** off?

Hmmmm, unless it was ghetto-rigged, I always just turn the shift ****. Have you tried holding the top of the boot in place while you turn the shift ****?

shouldnt be held together... just keep turnin it while holdin on the top of the boot.... tru sticking a flat head inbetween the top ring of the boot and bottom of the shiftknob and pry it a little... might be stuck from who know what.

NO!

just push down on the chrome ring at the top of the boot. it will unclick from the shift ****, then you can loosen it.

The problem Im having now is getting the numbers to line up straight since they're sitting kind of off to the side.

The skunk2 shift **** I ordered didn't come with the small 'nut' that goes under it.

Any ideas on how to tackle this problem?

Stick some TP inside the shift **** hole. Add enough to allow the numbers to be straighted when screwed down.
