i used to slam my hood to close it, now my hood wont close all the way. it locks into the safety latch, but it wont any further than that.

anyone have this happen? what can i do to fix it?

my friend's eg use to do this. he got a screw driver and jus bent some **** around.lol i dont kno how the hell he fixed it but he did....i suggest you jus find someone parting their car out or goin to a junkyard. good luck

could be 2 things.

check underneth your radiator to see bent or pushed up. if it is you need to get your radiator support pulled down.

if it is straight then you need to get a new hood latch or you can bend it back into place. i suggest getting a new one. good luck!

adjust the position of the locking mechanism next to the radiator. You can loosen the bolts and slide the mechanism higher up until it's high enough to secure the hood properly.


It's also possible part of the mechanism is bent. Close the hood until the safety latches. Lift the hood without releasing the safety, and look at where the latch is sitting. Make sure everything is lined up correctly.

im prettyr sure its the mechanism, over time it has moved down out of position, just get a 10mm socket and loosen the bolts and slide it straight up a very small amount, make sure to keep it straight or the hood will close crooked.

yeah, its the hood latch. Loosen then three screws, and move it up. Make sure everything is straight, tighten it, then close the hood. It could also be your hood latch spring. It could be broken.
