Default Hood pins or no?

i was thinkin about getting hood pins for my VIS cf hood, it has the metal hood latch and is very sturdy but while on the freeway i notice my hood wobble a little. I cringe on the idea of drilling my hood. How many of you install hood pins? i just need some opinions.

If it's making you uncomfortable, go for it. Can't be too careful with something like that. Hood pins are cheap compared to the cost of having your hood fly off.

just make sure that when you drill to put tape around the area where you are drilling so that the hood doesnt splinter and it will be a clean whole

I felt the same way about my VIS hood. But as soon as U put the pins in U will see alot less hood flex @ high speeds.

i'm in the same boat. i have the new gen vis hood with the metal latch on my ek and have been debating for a while whether or not to put hood pins on. it looks so much cleaner without them but i need that piece of mind for myself when i'm on the freeway that there is now way my hood is going to fly open. i think i may give in and drill into my hood . safety first

Where are you guys placing the locks? How close to those rubber top hood support things on the front cross member? I don't know what they are called.

Hood pins are mandatory for aftermarket hoods here in hawaii, so i had no choice but to drill my vis cf hood. Just make sure you latch it down tight, otherwise you will get hairline cracks around the screw holes from the vibrations. I learned that the hard way.

hood pins arent for showing off, they're to keep your windshield in 1 piece.

I think you could use some weather stripping foam somewhere to give enough resistance to "push back" against the hood locks to the hood from vibrating...

I hope you guys understand waht I mean...

If it's a safety thing, I'd do it, but I wouldn't like it.

i think you should have a body shop install the hood pins just to be on the safer side so you dont damage the hood. plus if someone else is responsible for drilling your hood and they **** it up, they have to pay for a new one. hood pins are a good idea not only for safety, but locks might deter thieves too.

When I first got my VIS carbon fiber hood almost 2 years ago, I thought it was mandatory to have hood pins or cops will pull you over and give you a fix it ticket or something. I asked a local performance shop how much to install it and they said like $70, that was too much for me to spend at the time. Then some one told me that I don't need hood pins...my VIS carbon fiber hood is sturdy enough. So no hood pins. About 1 year ago I was getting pissed that my car kept getting broken into, so I thought about hood locks, but then I changed everything under the hood to stock, so no hood locks.
But now I starting to fix up my car again, I'll probably look into getting hood locks
