Default Hondata heatsheild gasket fits weird on my d16 IM[PICS]

Alright I bought a hondatat gasket for a d16 from jhpusa for 49 + tax....
Problem is the gasket doesnt really line up to the intake manifold holes correctly..
looks like there will be some slight modification needed... It clears where the "air" is suppose to run thru but where the fuel squirts out doesnt look too good.... either way its going to neeed modification to fit properly
honestly I'd just rather return it (try to) to jhp which is a 30min drive or to hondata if jhp refuses the return since the package is open. I cant call either company today since theyre closed weekends FML

Final thought... I shoulda went with the bisimoto it would be impossible to mess up a D gasket for him right?

I noticed bisimoto's gasket is similar with the holes inverted and 1 leading to nowhere... anyone wanna speculate?

Bisi's pic from his site

^IDK what engine its for^
hondata only has 1 model? for the d16 and
bisi has 4 different ones.... 1 for d16, d16y/d16y8, d16a1, d16a5/d15

anyone else have a similar problem??

and whats up with the hole in the center?? i saw my gasket has it and also the one u posted... wouldnt heat get thru there "theoretically" same for the one near the coolant hole

:EDIT is taht an aftermarket manifold or stock??

its diffrent the d series gaskets when i rebuild my engine the gasket kit came with 3 diffrent kinds of IM gaskets i think the vx,cx are the same and the dx/lx are the same and the ex trim is diffrent so i know that for experience the intake manifold for the d series 92-95 are diffent even for the ek too

As he just said all the gaskets are a little different, I think they might have made one that fits all the models to cut down on cost. as for heat leaking through I don't think that will happen at all becaus the manifold is not close enough to the head to transmit that much heat. These gaskets work wonders on cuting down intake temp.

yeah Im guessing thats what they did too... But if your going to charge an arm and a leg (TO ME IT IS!) for a gasket you should produce them correctly... If not then you will not be selling many gaskets that dont fit...

SHOULDA GOT THE BISIMOTO!!! FAWK!

You should just get a Dremel tool. I made a heat shield gasket out of a sheet of Teflon I bought on Amazon. It was $30 for a big sheet, and I got enough to make 3 intake manifold gaskets and at least 3 throttle body gaskets. I was going to make at least one for someone else, but they're being a tool.

If you don't have access to a Dremel, use a knife and try to cut away what you don't want. That gasket is pretty close.

Im just disapointed, i bought this thinking it was a direct install w/ no mods.

Well, there are other phenolics, but Teflon is the best for this since it will have some give so that it can seal and it's a better insulator...but it's expensive.

It will install it looks like, just it isn't perfect. You could get a little file or a knife or cheap rotary tool. I know it stinks grinding on something new, but it happens.

The Hondata gaskets are known to leak. So if you do use it, you either need a gasket on either side, or some sort of sealant.

That round hole that goes no where is for the egr port on the cylinder head.Even though most usdm civic's (other then vx/hx maybe cx?) don't have an egr valve on the manifold they still have an egr port in the head casting. The intake manifold basically blocks it off The square hole is for coolant. They are suppose to be there.

The reason the ports seem weird on your gasket against your manifold is because hondatas gasket must be designed off the 96-00 coolant port because it's square. The 92-95 coolant port is round. I have a golden eagle gasket that is the same way as the hondata gasket on a 93 ex head and it sealed there fine.
