Icon2 Honda civic fuel system won't prime.

Ok so my 1993 honda civic has been having issues starting when i get gas. it turns over, fires, and starts and revs, but when the engine starts to slow down to idle it dies. I assumed it was the fuel pressure regulator so i took it off to look at it, and after i put it back on, the fuel pump won't pressurize the system. i can usually hear it kick on and pressurize the system but now...no sound, no fuel, no nothing. Everything else on my car woks. it will turn over, but won't ignite because there is no fuel. I tested the fuses, all good. i tested the power to my fuel pump and i get no voltage or anything. i tested the ground to the thermostat and i cleaned that and still nothing to the pump. i am in the process of checking all of the valves and whatnot like the EGR and MAP sensors and whatnot. So i don't know why all the sudden just by taking off and putting back on the pressure regulator screwed something up. I'm really confused. Any input or thoughts would be great. thank you

What Civic trim? Only the D15Z1 has an EGR system.

Does the CEL remain on steady with the key in ON(II)?

Have you checked fuses 31 and 24?

ok so my civic wouldn't have an EGR then because its a d15 b7.it is an LX automatic. the CEL turns off. Everything does what it is supposed to do except for the fuel pump. i checked fuse 31 and 24. all were good. i checked them visually, and with my fuse checker, as well as seeing if the fuse itself is getting power. i checked the MAP and i found that with my multimeter one of the wires is not getting power while the other is. i also looked at my fuel pump and checked that with my multimeter and it is not getting power, so it is not a dead pump. something electrical is messing with me.
also, i got fed up with everything yesterday, so i put it all back together and it started...idk what happened but it started. it started as well this morning to go to work and when i was leaving work, it didn't start. the fuel pump wouldn't turn on and prime the system. so as i was about to call someone to get me i tried again (about 3 hours after) it worked and i drove off. This intermittent problem is really annoying, it works, and then doesn't. and all times it doesn't work, the CEL turns off. everything works expect for the fuel pump not priming.

Resolder the main relay.

that makes sense that it might be the issue. the heat where i live gets intense some times and it is always dry heat so that would be a factor in the relay drying out. thanks for the info. i wil try that and see what happens and respond hopefully this weekend.

well i re-soldered the main relay. about 8 of the points had barely any solder on them. it was definitely dried out solder. if that was the big problem though is another question. we will see if it fixes it or not when it starts to get hot again. thanks a bunch Ron for the links and the help.

I had a similar problem with a 93 del sol D16Z6 auto and the intermittent problem turned out to be a failing ECU. I tried everything else suggested on this board over the period of a year. The P28-A51 (auto ECU) may not be common to find but if you can borrow one to try it out is my suggestion. I found one used at a junkyard for $135 a while ago. Oh check your ECU I don't think you have a P28 if you have a D15. There is a label on the side of the ECU.

before i posted this thread that is one of the things i "visually" checked. i saw pics of another guy with a similar problem and his ECU was to ally fried, like burnt a hole through it, i looked at mine and could not see any real big issues visually. if re-soldering the relay doesn't fix it i will definitely try that. and thanks for the info on a junk yard one. as soon as i had this problem i thought of all the "big" problems that might cost a little more to fix like the ecu, fuel pump, or anything. good to know i can get a junk one for a lot less to see if it fixes it and to get a new one.

My "bad" ECU didn't visually show any damage to the circuit board to my untrained eye but the ECU outer casing showed moisture damage so I assumed moisture got in to the circuit board.

Since I still have the "bad" ECU I might open it up and take some pictures and post them and maybe an expert can point out the problem.
