Default High rpm on highway safe?

I have a b20b with a gsr transmission and at 70mph, it's around 3800-4000rpm. Is this safe for the motor because they redline at 6500 i think and the transmission was made for a more high revving engine of 8k rpm. Should i keep the rpm at 3k cause Honda day is coming and the trip is 2hrs long.

My stock CRV b20 5 speed runs 3500 rpm at that speed on the highway. its got 197,000 miles on the stock motor and trans so Yes it should be ok.

bad for gas mileage

It's fine, I drove my 89mm stroke motor from Vegas to CA on a 4.78 final drive for 10 hours at over 4 grand.

You shouldn't have a problem if your engine and tranny are in good shape to start with.

I used to have a chipped ecu and hard set vtec engagement of 4400 rpm. It didn't care about load or engine speed, at 4400 rpm it would engage no matter what. And I took a 13 hour drive to florida, raced, and drove back without a problem, we tried to stay at whatever speed was about 4350 rpm, but a lot of the time we would run in that range anyway.
