Help! Wheel bearing problems....
Alright well i'm stuck in this situation...for some reason my car is going through wheel bearing on the driver side like instantly. I've gone through 5 wheel bearings and 1 used knuckle and another new bearing on that knuckle....i just recently dropped in my B20 in my car and never had a problem with the bearing...the ball joint, tie rod end, rotor, pads, calipers are all brand new... i've swapped out the axles twice also and the problem persist....everything is torqued to factory specs...every time i install a new bearing the car runs fine for maybe 15mins around the block than after that whenever i make right hand turns my driver side makes a metal to metal grinding sound...when i hear that i know that wheel bearing is shot basically cuz internally it comes of the race and becomes lose so the wheel has play which makes the rotor hit the caliper bracket....so what can be causing this problem of the bearings going bad so fast?

No we're not pounding them in we're using a press to get them in and doing it as per the honda manual supporting the bearing from the bottom and using old bearing to press in the new bearing onto the knuckle...

I cant think of anything other than youre getting defective bearings or something, or the install is damaging them. For them to go out that fast.

Re: Help! Wheel bearing problems....
I posted "Wheel bearings on hydraulic press. How to" on Oct 3, 2009. It will help if you share, just like someone already suggested, more details about how the new bearings were put back. Exactly what tools were used. I found many suggested on the web that the majority reason for shortened bearing life is how it was put back. This assumes that your hub, ball joints, tie rods, and strut suspension system are in good condition
According to many web posters, putting the bearings back without using a press can be even more critical.
Since I have 20-ton press, I personally would like to buy the official honda tool 07GAF-SD40700 that I mentioned in my post. But I am really reluctant to spend another $107 for that two pieces of metal plates.
If anyone has a used one please post it ..
