Icon3 HELP!!!! Turn signals light up when i step on the brake!!!

Ok so i bought a 97 civic a few days ago and this is the problem i am having right now..

I had my girlfriend get in the car well i check the lights and when she would step on the brake the front/rear turn lights would light up along with the brake lights in the back... and when you turn the turn signal lights on without the brake pressed they work fine, but if you press the brake well they are blinking they will stay on solid and bolth turn lights in the cluster light up also... WTF?????

bump if view, thanks.

Check the wireing. im guessing some one before you tamperd with the wiering.. does it have JDM fender signals? those are supposed to be attatched to the signal not the running lights.. some people attatch them to both signal and running lights only they wire them backward and for somereason that messes with the ciruts

the car has a 99/00 front end and 99/00 tail lights but all the wires look to be factory and not cut in anyway at all =(

The brake and tail/signal lights share a common ground wire in the rear. This ground connection has come loose, so the brake lights have lost ground and are now grounding out through the signal light circuit.

where is this ground located? i looked at all the wires in the trunk and they just go into the panel where the rear speakers are and i did not see any grounds...

Weird electrical problems are almost always caused by a bad ground wire. Do you have a sedan or coupe?

Check whether G601 (exploded view) is disconnected, loose, or corroded:

Maybe an additional ground was installed during the conversion. The ground wires for the brake lights are black. For each brake light bulb receptacle, trace the black wires back to a common convergent site where they are attached. Also look for any damaged or broken black wires. Do the same for the turn signal lights in an attempt to find where all the ground wires converge and are attached to the frame.

from looking at the wires.. there are 2 ground points in the front, one on each side behind the headlights and the one in the rear that you told me to check.. they look fine and nothing looks to be messed with. i checked all the bulbs and they are the right bulbs and sockets with no cut wires.. checked the wire harness under the dash and there was one black/white line wire that went into the steering column and was cut then taped back together but i redid it and nothing has changed.. gerrr!!!! =(

Focus all of your attention on the rear black ground wires for the brakes, starting at the bulb receptacle and running to their point of grounding to the rear frame. This is surely where the problem will be found.

would it be better to just cut the ground and ground all the wires to the car again? i mean more grounds could not make it worse right?

I would spend some more time wire tracing and trying to locate the bad ground before resorting to cutting and running new ground wires.

Ok so i was looking the wires in the tail lights over again and i noticed this..

Car harness wires are not color matched from each end of the plug.. the black/white one that is on the tail lights that is going to the brake light and the turn light i assume is the ground.. but on the car harness it is not going to the black wire???? here is a picture...

The car isn't wired for a trailer by any chance? I've seen those little black conversion boxes cause all sorts of similar funky issues.
