the surface of my calipers were kind of rusty, so i decided to paint them. i started with the rear wheels.

i unbolted the caliper from the caliper bracket in order to remove the brake pads. i removed the brake pads and the pad retainers. i masked everything off so i wouldn't get paint everywhere. i painted and allowed to dry...

i put the pad retainers back in the caliper bracket, put the brake pads back onto the caliper bracket. when i finally went to mount the caliper onto its bracket, it turns out that the caliper won't fit onto the caliper brakcet. it's a really tight fit. i have to hammer the caliper just to get it to fit onto the bracket. once it's on, the wheel won't spin freely when the parking brake is released. keep in mind, the only way to get the caliper on is to hammer it.

i know it's not a problem with the caliper piston, because even with the caliper piston in its lowest setting, the caliper still can't be mounted on the bracket. in fact, through the hole on the side of the caliper, with the caliper piston in it's lowest setting, you can see a large gap between the piston and the brake pad. so i know it's not the piston.

is there anything else i can adjust on the caliper or the caliper bracket that will remedy this problem. i have a feeling it's something really simple. this problem only occured on the passengers side. i had no problem with the drivers side.

btw - thois is for a 94 civic ex w/ 4 wheel disc brakes and abs.
