Default 94 ex Window Trim and Molding Corrosion?

I just finished painting my car and am looking at fixing up the window trims. I picked up a can of duplicolor trim black for the lower window molding but have a question about the moldings that go all the way around the windshield and 2 rear side windows of my coupe. I thought they were just really dried out but after closer inspection they appear to have a really stubborn type of corrosion on them. Since i had planned on scuffing them with 320 and painting them, i decided to try wet sanding a small spot with 1k first and it seems to clean off with some serious elbow grease. The only problem is its a major pain to get into some of the tight spots with sandpaper and it doesn't sand off like normal, it kind of rolls up this gunky stuff and i have to constantly clean the paper . Anyone ever use some sort of product to get this gunk off the moldings?

Thanks,

Blake
