Help no power to starter!
I have a 97 civic with the stock d16y7, it wa running fine then all of a sudden it won't crank. Whenever the key is turned it does absolutely nothing, no clicking etc. I tried to jump the starter with a wire from the battery an all it does is produce a small spark and nothing, no attempt to start. I bypassed the clutch switch to rule that out and no luck, any ideas?

Re: Help no power to starter!
Take a hammer and tap the starter firmly with it. Does it crank after that?
What you described doesn't seem like no power to the starter as much as the solenoid is sticking.
If the hammer trick works, you just need to get a new starter. I would keep the hammer in the car until you you get it swapped. That's what I had to do with mine and it bought me some time to located a quality used one at the you pull it type salvage yards.

Pull out your multimeter and test for voltage at the two starter terminals and continuity between the transmission and (-) battery post.
