Help needed: Hood latch cable stuck!!!! need help ASAP!
Okay, here's the deal:
My hood latch cable is stuck out... meaning, I pulled the cable from inside the car, the hood opened correctly, but the cable did not return to it's original position!!! so now my hood won't close shut.
I tried hammering in the cable from inside the cabin but no luck. (it's stuck out)
I took off the bumer and removed the entire hood latch assembly but it's not the problem.
somewhere between the cable from inside the cabin and the cable connected to the hood latch assembly is the problem. anybody encounter this before and have any solutions? do i need to take off my front drivers side panel to get to another mechanism?
HELP!

New hood cables are about $31 from dealer and they come with the release handle already attached...

if you reach inbto the latch assembly at front of hood, you can push the cable back and hood will close/latch.
I have to do this everytime. I don't feel like removing the LF fender to replace it.

it's none of the above...
in order for the latch assembly to work correctly, it needs to push back out to close the spring mechanism... right now, it's stuck so that it won't close out and it's sticking out the other end into the cabin.

the problem is that when i'm at the front of the car, i don't need to push the cable back... I need to pull the cable out in order to get the latch mechanism to 'close' properly. if i'm not making sense.. maybe i'll take some digital pics tonight and post them up.

i guess there's a kink.. but here's what's confusing me: I did separate the cable from the latch and it ALREADY IS in the protective covering all the way. At the same time, the cable is sticking out inside the cabin. (btw, my handle is broken off the cable in the inside).
how hard is it to replace the cable??

Had the same problem but I just got a new cable and latch from dealership. They tried to charge me $250 to replace the whole latch assy, I got a kick out of that one.

Make sure that the problem is definitely the cable before replacing it. With my car, some punk tried to pop my hood open by pulling on the cable from the bottom of the front bumper. After that, my hood would not open and the latch had no resistance. It shouldn't be hard, bring it to the BBQ.
