help! my keyless entry stopped working
I own a 1998 Honda Civic with keyless entry.
I just went out the car and tried to open it with my keychain remote. It didn't turn off the alarm. Thinking it was the battery in the remote, I went back in my house and got the backup. It still didn't work.
Now I'm trapped here with my neighbors getting more and more annoyed at me for setting off my alarm.
How did it get scrambled? How do I reset it?
Thanks for any help you can provide...

do you still have the factory headunit?
they keyless entry circuits built into the factory headunit, so check and see if your HU is still functioning. or if you have an aftermarket headunit installed, the stock one will be tucked away somewhere behind the center console, it could have just come disconnected over time.
if you open your door, and stick your key in the ignition, doesnt that stop the alarm?

what kindof an alarm is it? if its a python/viper/clifford/hornet/rattler theres a black valet button underneath the kick panel. stick your key in the ignition, turn it to the on position press and release that button. should shut the alarm off.

Re: (ekcivic9)
well, i ended up fixing it. by putting the key in the ignition and hitting the valet/disable button on the dash i was able to shut it off and reprogramming the remote.
i'm still not sure why the remote stopped working, but at least it's fixed.
thanks for all the suggestions...
