Help with Knock CEL
ok I have about had it with this knock code. And before anyone flames the thread, I have done my searching and part changing. I am looking for input not your idiotic comments.
Car is a 1998 Civic EX Auto
Ok battling a misfire I broke the original knock sensor unplugging it. Fixed the misfire. So I bought a knock sensor off ebay. But then started having a knock CEL, so I got a replacement sensor. Same problem again. Now that its warm the CEL clears, then when its cold weather the CEL comes back. Plugs, wire, and dizzy are good.
Yes I know cheap ebay parts. But before I break down and buy another sensor I want to know if anyone had an issue with an injector causing a knock problem. I am figuring that this ebay sensor is just very sensitive.

Re: Help with Knock CEL
Besides properly torquing the knock sensor, you must make sure it is the same one that Honda created for your engine application. These sensors are tuned at different frequencies, and you may not have the proper one for your engine. You must also consider the quality of of a low cost substitute and/or the possibility that a used one sourced online may also be faulty.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Help with Knock CEL
its tighened down good, but did not torque since it holds no fluids in, will look into that.
I have considered that it may need to be engine specific, but could not find verification.

Re: Help with Knock CEL
it cleared when the weather got warmer. I would advise you to get one from a parts store. That way you can return it. I did find that not all the honda/acura motors use the same knock sensor, but the cheap ebay sensors are sold that way.

Re: Help with Knock CEL
hi well I got a knock sensor form ebay for 20. bucks tried to install it and broke the blue plastic cap off it was so hard to reach up from the bottom and install the new one I use a rubber hose on the end of the sensor. well once I got it to start on the threads I tried to pull off the hose and that is when I broke the plastic part off .so im cheap I got another for $10 from ebay and this time I cut some slits in the hose so it would not hold on so tight and bingo it worked I snugged it up put the wire back on and problem solved .no knock sensor code.but he hose trick helped . just thought I would pass that on .ps my spelling and grammer sucks but
