Default Heater motor blows no air, fuse is bad, keeps popping when replaced..help it's cold in Chicago.

Well I was driving along today with the heat on and I noticed it had suddenly turned off.Even the lights on the climate control that indicates where you're directing the air turned off.

I get out of the car and check the fuse and it was blown. I know better but I was hoping if I just replaced it it would work.....nope. They keep popping. What could be the problem?Any help would be greatly appreciated cause of all nights for this to happen we're getting a foot of snow and it's damn cold too.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere.
I would try and get my hands on a wiring diagram, start tracing wires, and see if you can find any broken wires, wires shorting out on eachother, improper grounds, etc.

How could that be possible if it was working all this time till now? I thought my blower motor went bad and got grounded......is that even possible? Someone told me that could be the culprit too.

Try checking the positive feed to the blower motor for grounds you can do this at the fuse by checking continuity from the positive feed to car body ground.

If there is no short to ground then you can determine if the blower motor is bad, ( if you have a current meter), place the clamp over the positive feed to the motor only replace the fuse and turn on the blower and watch the meter and see how much current the motor is pulling. It should spike initially and then settle down it shouldn't exceed the rating of the fuse.

Have you tried the blower motor at low speed, if it only happens when on high I would think the blower motor is beginning to fail.

In the mean time open the vent and drive real fast! JK

If you need schematics I can give ya'site thats pretty good.

I don't have a meter handy and what does it mean if the controls are set to off and the fuse still blows?

Are you saying that the fuse blows when the blower motor is off, but caris running or key is in on position?
