Have any of you replaced these parts? Trailing assembly [PICS]
Hello HT. It's been awhile since I posted here, and I need your help once again. So I picked up an entire trailing arm assembly w/ E-Brake Cables off a totaled '00 EM1 (I picked up the master cylinder and prop valve while I was at it). I also replaced the trailing arm bushings since they were pretty much toast. I started removing the trailing arms off my '99 Civic Hatchback, and I noticed that some pieces/bushings were cracked. I believe it's called the "rear arm". Some bushings were cracked from my 99 civic. I didn't pull off the rear arms from the '00 EM1 since I didn't think I would have to replace those (I'm pretty sure those would have been damaged after 15 years on the road as well).
I will include photos (and a link to a diagram) for the parts I need new.

I have no idea how to put captions in between the photos... what a noob
Anyways, Pic #1 goes inside the left side of the rear arm (Pic #3). Number #11 on the diagram is the bushing that I need to replace, right? I believe that's Pic #2 and Pic #4. They look like 2 separate bushings, but I don't see 2 separate bushings in the diagram.
I didn't remove both of my trailing arms off my car yet. I took off one, but I'm guessing i'll have to be replacing both sides. In the diagram, #11 says "RR". I'm assuming this mean Right Rear. If so, where is the Left Rear bushing?

For the upper control arm it's part #10 and part #11 for the bushings. I believe the reason why part 9 and 12 also goto the part #10 bushing is I suspect the bushing is included with the arm if you purchase the arm. Think it might be the same for bushing #11 as 9 and 12 also have a line to #11.
The upper control arm also has two parts numbers, one for right and one for left.
The lower control arm seems to be universal as it only has one part number and only has one bushing Honda has a part for in the diagram and that is part #13.
And as you can see, the diagrams don't have a part number for the trailing arm bushings even though they are replaceable at least they are on the 92-95.

So I looked up some photos of #10 and #11 in the diagram. Honestly, I'm not sure if I should even order those. I was able to find some photos of those two parts. Pic #1 is #10 in the diagram; pic #2 is #11 in the diagram. The bushings I have seem like they are separate pieces. It seems like Pic #1 already comes with a bushing? I'm going to Honda tomorrow and I'll see if they know which part I need. Hopefully they aren't clueless.

Good point. Trailing arm bushings are also replaceable in 96-00 Civics. I didn't even notice that it wasn't listed in the diagram.

The bushing you have are torn to pieces. They should look like the two pics you just posted but aren't being they are totally separated and the hard rubber is totally shredded.
Keep in mind, you normally have to press bushing out and in. Yours are in such poor shape they have fallen out. Your last picture in the original set shows what looks like to be the toe adjustment arm and still has the bushing in it and would require pressing to get it out.
In all honesty, the arms are so thin and flimsy, I'm not sure I would bother replacing the bushings as much as the arm as a unit. Pressing new bushing in may distort the arm. It's not like the lower control arms that are 3 inch thick cast steel that can take the pressings.
The upper rears, I was looking at the Truhart adjustable camber arm as it seems to be the only one fully made out of steel. All the others, including buddy club use 7075 aluminum for the center cartridge which I fear is prone to binding with the steal end links.
I believe the Truhart's come with hard race bushings so are top quality bushings. And this gives you more alignment capabilities than the stock upper control arms on the rear.

I just went with a rear camber kit to replace this. It will be cheaper going this route than buying new bushings and pressing them in. The rear camber kit I bought has thicker bushings compared to OEM. Since I lowered my car, my camber was a bit off, but I never got it aligned. Now I can fix that. It's a win-win situation.
I went to Honda today and they said the rear arm came with a bushing (or so he says). They were $92.... each... and weren't available until later this week.
Thanks a lot for your input, TomCat39.

The old bushings you have are probably polyurethane bushings. They come in two halves most of the time.
Honda oem control arm bushings are not sold separately. You have to buy the arm. You could opt to install oem, polyurethane or aftermarket hard rubber bushings. Hardrace makes good hard rubber bushings.

I think you are onto something about the poly bushings being what OP had though.
