The plugs changed in 1999.

So if you want to do a power door conversion you're going to need the parts from your year range.

The year ranges are:
1996-1998
1999-2000

The plugs are different for those groups, so you must stick to the matching years.

There should be plenty of DIYs to do the conversion, but it's basically just removing parts, adding parts and time.

IIRC (research yourself, please; I'm not sure this is all correct):

REMOVE
Front seats
Center console pieces
Lower door jamb trim on at least one side (forget if it's attached to the carpet for these years)
Carpet
Driver knee bolster panel
Under dash fuse box
Non-power door cards

REPLACE/ADD
Floor harness
Door harnesses
Power door cards

That should be about it. I did this project with someone else in a 1997 CX hatch. We used parts from a 1998 EX coupe. It probably took us something like 5-6 hours I think. It was mostly time consuming beyond anything else. It wasn't hard.

The best solution is to sell you wiring and use the $ get the 96-98 wiring. I have first hand experience trying to convince 96-98 wiring to work with 99 wiring and it's not fun. the 99 has few less or a few more wires than the 96-98, i can't remember which.
The lock curators and window motors are the same for all years so keep those if you already have them
