Hard Vibration at idle, but smooth idle.. motor mounts?
I just bought an '00 EK hatch with an '00 GSR swap.
The car is running a P72 GSR ecu, and has a walbro 255lph pump (was in car previously).
The car drives great, but I get a lot of vibration at idle. It idles smoothly, but I can feel vibration hard in the shifter and if I put my hand on the dash , etc.
I set the idle as per the manual, and it idles at ~850rpm. At 950rpm the vibration goes away. As I run through the revs you can feel a little but not much.
The car does not throw any CELs, it has good compression (225psi across). Just curious what it could be.
i also have an Apexi WS2 exhaust that had to be cut and welded to mate up to the GSR header.... I'm wondering if it's too tight a fit at the header and transferring vibration.
I don't think it's an engine issue, because when she's idling at 850rpm (and I feel vibration in the cabin), I can put my hand on the valve cover and it barely moves at all... it's smooth.. doesn't even look like the car is on.
Anyone have any thoughts?

it barley moves cuz all the shock is being distributed to the chaise. i really think you motor mounts are bad, or you just have stiff racing mounts, try changing the back mount for something softer
good luck

I agree with you.. is the rear mount a bitch to change? Is the correct OEM-like mount for my GSR (in an 00 EK), the 99-00 Si rear mount?
Thanks.

yeah i think its the same. not 100%
id swap it with stock, but just the back one.
with the right tools nothing is a bitch.

Ha.. .finally got a hold of the OP... he said there is window-weld in some of the mounts ... was necessary for his 500whp turbo motor to get out of the box
I wish I had a real helms manual.. the pictures on majestic honda's parts catalog don't give me a very good idea of what's involved.
I think I'll start with a stock Si rear mount and see where that gets me. Perhaps I could even scrape the window weld out.

My buddy and I recently installed racing mounts on his RSX. The car idles great, but you can definitely feel it.
So yeah, it sounds like you're running really stiff mounts. I'd try to get something softer to absorb some of the extra vibration.
