Default Good wax product?

sup guys i've got a FBP EJ8 and have never waxed it ever since i got the car. The paint looks really oxidised and there are swirl marks everywhere. I was planning on to getting the entire car professional waxed but as always everybody is broke haha. I was at autozone and there are many different kinds of wax products. I'm just stuck on what brand to go with. What have you used that worked well. Im not planning on using a buffer or anything of that sort. o and yes i searched but came up with nothing on HT.

Wax doesn't mask swirls, fix swirls, or do anything to the appearance of the paint. It protects the paint, and not a whole lot else. Some full caranuba waxes will add a "wet" look to your paint.

You should have PMed myself or NOFX man ... come on, think.

PS - What the hell is "professional waxed" ?

If you get a colored wax, something for example like Turtle Wax Black it will sometimes fill in/mask bad or messed up paint but they only have a few colors so if your car isn't that same color you still would be screwed.

to remove the swirls you need to let the paint cool, then wax it in the shade, like under a tree, or in a garage. waxing the car in the sunlight or while the paint is hot from the sun will cause swirls.

what i have done in the past to remove swirls is let the paint cool, wax it, then polish it. meguirs has a great set up, actually it is the brand i prefer. mother's is also a great brand, i really like their caranuba (yellow) bar. works great!

well what you should do is invest in a buffer. Get a non abrasive compound buff it out . Than go to a polish. Than just like 2 coats of a caranuba wax. There are many different brands to choose from but as far as the compound im talking about you can find at a auto paint shop. Its called Strata 1000 and as far as the wax Meguiars. Have fun with that.

You may be masking them. They're still there.

It would be physically impossible for wax to remove swirls. Wax is not a polish. Wax has ZERO abrasive qualities.

i never used wax alone. i wax then polish. so you are saying the polish is what removes the swirls.

Wow. Remind me to yell at you if I ever see you giving detailing advice ... ever.

Polishing after waxing effectively breaks down and removes your wax. Bravo.

And to answer your question; yes, polishing helps minimalize the appearance of swirls and marring by dulling the edges.

don't know what to tell you. i used to get swirls on my car. friend of mine who owns a body shop told me what to do. told me how the swirls come about, and how to avoid it.

the funny thing is his advice as worked, never gotten a swirl again.

I'd stop going to that body shop too. Or talking to that guy.

I've supplied more help in this thread than any other poster .... but you're right. I should be nice to people. Because that's what life is about. Bunnies ejaculating rainbows and starshine in a field of wildflowers.

PS - Don't ever compare me to Syndicate. That's just plain wrong.
