Fuel Problem.. Car dies, then fires but will not start.. then starts after 5-10 Minutes
I have been haveing this problem for a few months, and tonight my little Honda died. I am driving a 92 Civic VX, stock 1.5v, no mods.
This problem usually happens when I make a few quick stops, at some point it starts but then powers down. After trying for 5-10 minutes, with semi-starts, it will start and run again. Well tonight it would not fully start, then finally no fire at all.
A mechanic friend told me that Honda has a relay problem, and that I need to get a new main relay. However I think he is wrong. So I figured I would ask in a forum. When I turn the key, I can hear the fuel pump power up. A relay if bad would cause the fuel pump to not work correct?
Any help or ideas would be appriciated..
Thanks in Advance
John

your mechanick is not wrong ! sounds very much like the fuel relay ! (main relay)
but dont buy a new one ! just resolder it... takes no more then 30 mins 2 do .. and you will bee happy ever after with your honda..

umm, I may be good at computers, but im an idiot with cars. well if I have a manual, I can do just about anything.. is there a tech manual on how to do what your saying? I was going to buy the relay tomorrow from the dealership, but if told exactly what to do, Id like to try would I have to pull the relay out of its holder??
Ok I have the relay out of the case, and I see the solder points .. im assuming all I need to do is apply heat to the points, and after the solder melts, then I add new solder.. is that correct

bump
Is there a certain grade of Solder I need to use?
The dealer here used to be open on Sundays, but no longer so I need to try the solder trick and see if I can get my car running today.
Thanks
John
