freshly built gsr Swap wont start (no spark)
Ok i put the new engine in connected everything like it should but it still wont start. Its getting fuel but no spark. i put in a new ignition control module for the dizzy and still nothing, i have replaced the msd blaster coil and still no start. when i check with my test light in the dizzy i get power to everything even my ecu imput wire on the ICM, but no spark. When i hook my spark tester up from the msd coil to the coil wire on the msd dizzy cap and ground my testlight to the ecu imput on the ICM it will spark but other than that nothing. it really has me puzzzled because when i pulled the old GSR swap it ran fine.

so your fuel pump is priming? It could be a bad ECU. Your saying there is power to the cap but not to the spark plug wires?

fuel pump is priming got a 255 lph bbk hard not to hear it, ive already tested the ecu theory tried 3 different ecu's 2 p72's and a custom tuned p28 for the engine in it now, theres power to the dizzy none to the plugs and the coil wont fire only time i got spark from it was when i hooked a spark tester from the coil to the coil wire and put the test light to the ECU imput in the ignition control module only then i would see spark

So did you change the ICM?
And you said you tried a different coil. Is it possible that both coils are bad?

So you're getting spark when the tester is connected to the coil wire and grounded to the ICM but you're getting nothing when grounded to the valve cover. That would have to mean a bad ground. If the grounds are fine then you can't be right about getting nothing when connected in every way other than what you described.

sounds like the wire from the ecu to the icm is broken inside or a bad connection since when you hook up the test light it works. the test light will work like a new wire. try replacing that wire and see what happens.

that really sucks. Have you checked continuity through all the wires? maybe one of the wires got torn in the harness during the swap.

As mentioned, use your multimeter to check for lack of continuity or a short in the Yel/Grn wire running between the ICM and ECU.
