Fluorescent dye causes check engine light????
Hey guys,
I have a 98 civic ex with a hard to find oil leak. So I bought traceline's fluorescent dye and put it in the civic and drove it to the store. Before this the car had 0 problems. On my way to the store I got a CEL. I was kinda angry because it seems like the dye caused a CEL. My question is has anyone had this happen before? I haven't gotten the codes yet I was just wondering if others have been in this situation.
Thanks a lot!

Re: Fluorescent dye causes check engine light????
that is hit and miss, most of the time it is a deal were cust pays for engine/trans/ps to be cleaned up (depending on what is complaint/leak) and poor dye in and have them come back in a few days or a week ISH. so in long run i dont feel/see and adverse affects of leaving in without oil change

I've heard of using certain sealants will cause an O2 sensor failure so it's possible that the dye is causing the CEL.
