Default FITV - b16a2

Hey guys, sorry to bug...i just took out my FITV again to adjust the idle, when i took it off, brown/rust coolant spilled...and also, i realize i have a missing hose i think(on the pic, the house circled in red)....the tip of the FITV is sealed with something hard, not silicone. Also, my coolant in radiator is very clean and green......so not sure why the one that spilled was very dirty, brown...rust....

Question: Am i suppose to have a hose right there for the b16a2? also, why did that dirty coolant come out...though radiator coolant is very clean and green.

i have 93 civic coupe with swapped b16a2.

yea both hoses are needed. one is an inlet and one is an outlet for the coolant to flow. The crap that you found could have collected there since the return line was blocked off. Not sure why that would be. I dont know enough about this particular engine to tell you where those lines should be going, but i can tell you that neither side of the fitv should be blocked off. And i cant imagine why someone wouldn't hook that up. odd

that's weird if they only have 1 line blocked off. Most people only remove the valve in high end builds because daily driving isn't a factor. It's probably some JB weld of that putty weld stuff. You can probably just drill it out.

Ok, thanx guys..now if i was to take that off....where would that hose connect to? i didnt find anywhere where that hose would go...on my b20, the hose goes to the manifold...but, on the b16...its different..there is another hose to the manifold...im starting to think that the b16 has some hoses mixed up....

Anyone have a diagram of the coolant system for a b16? meanwhile ill keep searching see if i can find something...

Thanx guys.

One line runs to the IACV and the other runs to the small coolant nipple on the intake manifold (at least on mine it's how it goes)

If you notice on the right there is a little coolant nipple that's sitting on a big coolant nipple. The little one runs a small hose to my FITV, and the second hose of the FITV runs to the IACV, and the second hose of the IACV runs somewhere (forgot exactly where)

Well, i checked out the hose that is hooked up to that spot on the manifold (circled in red) but it seems to be leading right next to where the upper radiator hose hooks up.

Any input on this? if the FITV hose is suppos to go to the manifold, where would that end go to? again engine is b16a2

i would try and figure out for sure where that hose is going. cause if its going back into the thicker coolant hose that is connected to the head somehow.. thats not where it should be.

its hooked up to the same Part where the upper radiator hose is hooked up to. Which does appear to be the head. But it is not attached to the top radiator hose...that same part where the top radiator hose hooks up to has a nipple next to it, thats where that hose is going to.

I'm having the same problem on my b16a with p30 intake Mani. After looking at countless diagrams and posts im positive the fitv is meant to be hooked up to that small nipple next to the larger one on the intake Mani. Ironically enough the other nipple spot you circled in the last image (according to diagrams at least) is meant to run to the valve cover?? Next to the filler cap?? Doesn't make sense to me cause I was positive it goes to the stock air intake.
