more than that in nj. heavy fines and repo of vehicle and if a shop did ur swap a possible closing down of the shop. there is some big **** that goes on about that ****. if u do have a hot motor good luck keeping it from being found out because there's prolly a snitch in ur town that narcs everyone out.

Not to hijack your thread, but my question comes alongt he same lines as yours. Do you need/get any kind of documentation when you buy a swap?
I forget why I thought you may need documentation, but maybe the answer will revive my original though.

In a Swap like a C5 swap...u get papers stating that the motor is legit and it was not stolen...bla bla bla
dont even risk buying a stolen motor...especially an LS...hope u gettin it for a couple hundred if its stolen...
EDIT>>>> u know how u get a title for your car....same thing for a motor

the pigs read it off ur block and will run it through thier computers the motors vin code is tied in with the vin number on the orig car it came out of. if that car was stolen or so on they can find out impound ur car ect ect not worth having a stolen motor unless u live in the boonies where a cop doesnt even kno what vtec motor is.hoepfully they'll get more strict with it so no one will have their cars jacked anymore. i have had 3 freinds with integs get their cars stolen and stripped. latest my fren's clubmember with a gsr 4 door turbo was stolen outside his job at ups...watch for turboparts for sale on urban. **** like that has gotten way out of hand.....

if you do not have receipts for the motor. you think the shop that installed the motor still has receipts on the swap?

Re: finding out if a motor is legit or not??? (All Motor Rex)
what if I buy a motor(legit) from someone that took it out of there car and then there car gets stolen after they sold me the motor. so does that motor i bought turns into a stolen motor???
#24
I really don't know
Re: finding out if a motor is legit or not??? (jdmclvlc)
Just because the car was stolen doesnt mean the motor is stolen.
For example, I have a 98 Integra Type R, I get a sweet *** deal on a built GSR motor. I sell the ITR swap and put in the built GSR swap(while making a couple hundred profit). And then im driving along the road cruising. I go to park at the mall, and when i come out of the mall my car is gone. They report it as stolen and so on. Will the owner of my ITR swap be in trouble just because my car was stolen, even if it didnt have the ITR motor?
edit: im dumb and read every post besides JDMClVlC's haha and his is basically the same thing as mine
