Re: (IMOTEPHT)
i was told (merely what i was told) that the best flowing single vtec head was off the 1997 ex (d16y8) for what reason this head flows better i have no idea but its just what i heard. and i also understand the 1.6 bottom end would be best for mini-me due to having more displacement.

Sure, you just have to provide the head...unless you want us to track one down for you.

I don't do the labor, sander does. He sets the prices as well. Send an e-mail to the address in my sig. I'd assume upwards of 200 dollars because a timing belt and wiring are involved along with the swap.

Re: (BauleyCivic)
Hey bauley, You might be able to help me
I have 97 lx d16y7, and I want to put a y8 head on it but where would be the best place to look for one? I mean I have wrecking yards here, (well 70 miles away) but I have been to them several times..........And they only seem to have 84-91 years in most all hondas....
I would like to find one for fairly cheap any help is appreciated. TIA

Y8 to Y7 is an easy swap...because theres no need to swap timing belts, and you can keep your distributor. Read this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=735196
And you can check the honda-tech classifieds for a Y8 head. You'll need the head, valve cover, and ECU

Yeah thanx..I have had that thread bookmarked for a while now. The problem is that since I am still a trial user I can't post in the classifieds of pm or anything.
In fact I think this might be my last post I can do untill 24 more hours

Re: D15 SOHC VTEC Mini-Me : Massive Write-Up (JDMvtecDRAGSTA)
few questions for everyone. i keep seeing that the jdm d15b bottom end is a vx bottom end. true? If true then it would have the shitty dish pistons correct?
So it would make more sence for preformance issues to just mini me my d15b8(cx) since i have the stuff. Other things to consider is the b8 block was only designed for 70hp and i have 110k or so on it.
Would you rather mini me and do some maintinance or would you just go buy a jdm d15b long block for $350 w/ a 6mo waranty? Are there any precautions i could take to help the block hold up? i.e block guard.. ect
thanks.

LSVTEC doesnt screw up if you build em right. most people are ignorant to using the GSR head studs. they work fine.

They aren't as reliable as honda VTEC motors.
#1 reason...bad R/S ratio. The LS block cannot be revved above 8,000 RPM daily unless you feel like replacing piston rings and rehoning your block every 6 mos
#2 the rod bolts are ****, they stretch at high RPM
#3 with the B18B there's no PCV system so the tremendous crankcase pressures tend to blow out seals
#4. no oil squirters for the rods...less lubrication for the bottom end

i agree with you there, in all reality, why would you even do MINI ME to **** up what the honda engineers built?
but LSVTEC isnt a **** motor some people believe it is.
by the way, my boy just imformed me i'm getting his Y8 head complete.
head, dist., intake, tb, fuel rail. for $120
i know i'll still need the Z6 parts to make it work, but the HEAD and manifold sound likea deal to me

The D15B Is "basically" the VX bottom end with a EX/Si head. The pistons are PM3 DX flat-tops.
Mine is bacically stock and it handles 9psi very well. Butt dyno puts me at around 200whp.
