One very important piece of information left out of this write up is the project cost. If the price is right then the time is no issue. Im interested in doing this conversion myself since I aquired as of yesterday a 96 hatch and actually dislike the climate controlls compared to my 2k coupe. Tell me how much $$$$ went into the conversion.

Also one thing to add, I did not remove the Steering shaft or metal braces from under the dash when I did the swap.

cost wise you can get a heater core box and blower for $80 shipped, i had two chances to get it for this price back when i wasnt sure about it. and the climate console you can find around for $85 shipped complete also. the dash vent would have to be a junkyard thing from any 99+ civic and that would be $20 at the most. this is basically all you really need. and just make sure the harnesses are intact.

Something not mentioned in the write up.

The 96-98 Center console bolts to the dash completely different than the 99-00. If you want to bolt it up just like OEM, then it will require a 99-00 dash.

I did a dash conversion + Power doors and windows from an EX

Its the same process except that I converted to 2000 EX doors. So I had to switch all of the interior wiring harnesses. If you don't want to do that than pick up 96-98 EX doors and the interior floor harness.

Here are some pics of the conversion of my 98CX hatch and a few misc. pics and parts I have for sale.

so do you need to remove the dash? i would like the 99-00 climate controls but me + wiring just dont mix. i guess i just wished it was plug and play. if someone could tell me the whole 99-00 key less entry in a 96 i'd be well off!!
good write up oh and you need some gas
