best struts and springs
A 95 civic. I don't want to lower my car to low or go ***** out on suspenssion.
Looking for good comfort and low price. I was thinking of just replacinf my struts and springs with oem parts. Any good combo for like less than 200 bucks?
I drive 50 miles a day.
I have a 95 sedan dx

the low-cost set up listed in the above is currently installed on my '00 sedan. looks are much improved, the ride is expectedly less comfortable but easy to live with for anyone under 40... it doesn't beat you up, but you'll find you're self avoiding the larger imperfections in the road whenever possible. the handling is a thrill compared to stock. tires influence that a lot too, but i rode on those tires for 4 months before adding the suspension so a fair comparison.
anyway, the suspension thread lists $600 for this set up. altogether i spent a hair over $400 and that includes all new OE rubber (bump stops, spring "seat" and mount bushings).
***if you do just dampers/shocks and reuse your springs (ride will improve, looks and handling will remain the same) you can probably do so for a little over $200.
personally i would wait and save a little more cash to avoid any corner-cutting, which often leads to dissatisfaction.
and FYI- KYB Excel-G is mechanically identical to GR-2 only painted "OE black" they are easier to find at a good price.
EDIT: I re-read your post, if you're looking at OE springs anyway then the line i've starred plus new OE rubber parts should suit you well.

Re: best struts and springs
I'm running '98+spec Integra Type-R struts and springs with rear ITR lower control arms, on my '93 Civic LX. Got some used ones from an importer for $300 to my door. So far put about 55,000mi on them. Lowers the car just a touch, spring rates are better than pretty much all the lowering springs out there in terms of performance and handling. Ride is sportier than the stock civic stuff but not harsh! My car is an LX so it did not come with sway bars front or rear, I added in a used Integra LS sway bar to the rear for $20, and it really handles nicely. If you wanted to take it up a notch you could get some Bilstein or Koni struts for the ITR springs, would be a great setup.
