Factory Cruise Control Install. What parts are needed?
I have a 97 HX w/o cruise. I would like to install a cruise control and I like the idea of putting in a factory system. I'll do it with junk-yard parts. Possible? Can anybody give me some pointers or pitfalls? Does anybody know of any websites with photos of cruise control parts (maybe discussing troubleshooting)?
I'm thinking that the cruise switches on the steering wheel will bolt to my "non cruise" steering wheel. I see that may 'cable reel' behind the steering wheel has 3 empty contacts so maybe I won't need a new cable reel. I'll need to run my own wiring since I can't find any factory wiring for the cruise in the steering column.
I believe that the ON/OFF switch is built into the left AC air vent.
I expect that I need switches, vacuum actuator, computer control unit. I haven't yet seen a pic of the actuator or control unit.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

This should help:

It's a cruise control install for a G3 Integra, but in general it should be the same for a G6 Civic.

The switches, wheel and airbag will obviously not fit a G6 Civic, but I'm not sure about that cruise unit itself. The cruise box in my '00 Civic is quite a bit different from those found in G5 Civics and G3 Integras, and I'm not sure if they would work the same way. I don't mean to infringe on your sales or anything, but it would probably be a safer bet for him to just get a unit from another G6 Civic.

Yeah, I noticed the difference when I was comparing pictures of the engine bays of my '93 Civic EX and '00 Civic Si. The cruise unit in the '93 was the same small black box as the one in your picture, but the cruise unit in the '00 is a big round grey thing.
