Default ex/esid series trannies

i donīt know anything about gear ratios!
but i am trying to decide on a box for my civic!
my car is an lsi civic ī92 which has a d15b2 motor in it but i am swapping in a d16z6 engine soon, but my gear box is old and worn and i want to replace it with a box from a newer one like the european 1.4is or 1.5lsi 96-00 civics.
my tranny has the following ratios.
1st 3.250 same as ex/esi
2nd 1.900 same as ex/esi
3rd 1.250 same as ex/esi
4th 0.909 ex/esi have 0.937
5th 0.750 ex/esi have 0.771
reverse 3.153 same as ex/esi
final 4.250 same as ex/esi

now the boxes from the 1.4 and 1.5 cars are as following
1st 3.250 1.4is 3.250 1.5lsi
2nd 1.909 1.4is 1.782 1.5lsi
3rd 1.250 1.4is 1.250 1.5lsi
4th 0.909 1.4is 0.937 1.5lsi
5th 0.750 1.4is 0.750 1.5lsi
reverse 3.153 1.4is same 1.5lsi
final 4.058 1.4is 3.888 1.5lsi

i see that the 1.4 has almost the same ratios as the ex/esi except for the 4th gear and final drive but the 1.5 car has the same 4th but different 2nd gear and final drive!
the 1.5 car is a vtec-II equipped economy car so i think that that box is more leaned toward economy and longer gearing but what about the 1.4 box is that final drive something to worry about!

In terms of performance, you want the EX/ESi transmission because the final drive ratio is shorter. The ratios seem to be about the same as our '92-95 Civic EX and Civic Si here in the United States.

The LSi transmission you have listed has the longest gearing out of the three, which is good for fuel economy but bad for acceleration. It would be the slowest and least fun of them all.

The 1.4is transmission ratios are pretty similar to our '92-95 Civic DX ratios. That longer 4.058:1 final drive will make you accelerate noticeably slower. It won't be unbearable, but not nearly as good as the EX/ESi tranny with the 4.250:1 final drive.

we also have a 5door civic over here which is a british made car i found out that the 1.4is version of that car has the following ratios
1st 3.25
2nd 1.78
3rd 1.17
4th 0.94
5th 0.75
reverse 3.15
final drive 4.44
could i use that one or just the final drive out of it!
