Which engine would be better D15B or the ZC
ok so i have decided to do a cheap swap in my 95 honda civic because i dont want to replace the head casket and head. The two motors in my price range are the D15B vtec and the ZC non vtec i was wondering which would be the better swap.

it really depends on what your doing to it. Im running the d16zc sohc vtec and its a good motor and likes the boost. im sure the 15b would be similar. I dont think i would pick up the non-vtech zc.

What civic do you have? Plans? Just a daily? Give us a quick run down. If its just a daily and your looking for a quick replacement I wound say go with what's easiest. If you already wired for vtec go with the D15B vtec, easy 130hp. If you got a dx or cx I say go with the sohc ZC (JDM D16A6). Its got better low end the any of the other sohc D's.

Re: Which engine would be better D15B or the ZC
are you talking about a DOHC ZC - SOHC ZC - ZC vtec- d16a6 some people call them (zc)
dohc zc = junk
sohc zc = good could be non vtec but still solid building block
zc vtec = d16z6 with the a slightly aggressive (jdm) cam japan spec
d16a6 = some people call this a zc but its just a usdm spec d16a6 still a good building block
d15b = better rod to stroke ratio compared to the 1.6 blocks meaning safer to rev higher when built. not good aftermarker support
